I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

Today Jojo draws Iron Man. This week, Jojo will be drawing members of The Avengers. She drew a lumpy, six-nippled Thor yesterday. She also drew Captain America and Hulk, a few months ago. I thought this Iron Man drawing would be more accurate, Jojo has seen the first movie, but I shouldn’t have been so surprised. A while back, Jojo tried to draw Daredevil, saying he was “if Iron Man and Rocketeer had a baby”. What she drew looked nothing like Daredevil, but what I didn’t notice is it also didn’t look much like Iron Man. This Iron Man, looks an awfully lot like her Daredevil. That is to say, wrong. It’s more mechanical, so that’s right. But that’s it. I’ll give her some points, she got the colors right. The chest and hands would be right if they were the right color, and she did capture the very awkward way the movie Iron Man flies. If she’d gotten the helmet right, this would probably look fine. I also like to think that Iron Man is not using his feet to fly, not because Jojo forgot he can do that, but because he’s drunk.
