I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

Today Jojo draws Black Widow. This week, Jojo is drawing The Avengers from memory. She pretty much knew Thor and Iron Man, and although she didn’t know Nick Fury, she compensated with general Samuel L. Jackson trivia. Today we get a character she obviously has barely heard of. She knew to make her spider themed in some way, although I’m surprised we didn’t get a repeat of what happened with Doctor Octopus. The craziest thing about this drawing is the extremely wide hips. Rather than being ashamed of this, Jojo was annoyingly proud, grinning as she said, “See? She has an hourglass figure! Like on a black widow spider! See?” Let’s just try and get past it. She used the right colors, black and red, and she gave her some spy gear. Jojo says that guns and lipstick are what lady spies carry. Also she thinks the gun might fire more lipstick. The only thing that’s really off about this is the hat and long white hair. It makes her look like a palette swapped Carmen Sandiego.
