I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

Today Jojo draws The Guardians of the Galaxy! This concludes our one-year anniversary request week. The number one request we got was for The Guardians of the Galaxy, probably because Marvel just announced they’d be getting a movie in 2014. I asked Jojo if she had any idea who they were (she didn’t) and told her “They live in space, their leader’s name is Star Lord… you already drew Rocket Raccoon.” She stopped listening somewhere around “they live in space-” and went off to draw this. She clearly heard the word “guardians,” remembered the movie Legend of the Guardians:The Owls of Ga’Hoole and just went to town. So here it is: giant owls with planets in their talons, as they shoot stars and vomit moons. I don’t know about you, but I feel like the galaxy is now thoroughly guarded.
