I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

Hello friends, it’s Marly the writer.
Obviously Jojo and I aren’t doing this blog anymore, mostly because I ran out of heroes to ask Jojo to draw, I ran out of energy to bug her to draw them and also we don’t work in the same office anymore. (We are working on a new comic for The Devastator right now, we’ll post that once it’s published!)
In the meantime, I have a new project with another artist (who is actually a writer but a better artist than me!)
Office Fun Comics
It’s also based on working in an office together but instead of being about drawing super heroes at lunch, it’s about how we’ll all be skeletons one day! Enjoy?

Today Jojo draws Tony Stark’s Mark 17 Armor!
Jojo got unexpectedly busy but I’m still going to make her draw all the armors I can think of from Iron Man 3! There’s like, forty of them in the movie. How many will Jojo draw? Probably less than forty! LET’S GO!
The Mark 17 is called Heartbreaker. I couldn’t really tell what it’s specific deal was supposed to be so I told Jojo the name and told her to go nuts. And nuts she did go. She hit the general heart break theme pretty hard, and she made him pink and red, because hearts.
I just want to note that after she drew the Silver Centurion armor, I showed her a picture of what it’s supposed to look like. In fact, every time she’s drawn Iron Man, I have shown her what he’s supposed to look like.
And yet, there’s all these great mistakes she keeps making. She always gives him eyebrows and a nose. She also likes to give him what I can only assume are metal nipples.
As she was drawing this, she tried to remember what Iron Man’s helmet was supposed to look like, knowing she’d just seen it the day before. When she couldn’t, she actually turned to me and said, “I just saw it yesterday. Why can’t I remember it? What’s wrong with me?”
I don’t know Jojo, but I hope it never gets fixed.

Today Jojo draws Tony Stark’s Mark 33 Armor.
Hey everyone, we’re back! So I saw Iron Man 3 (Jojo did not) and without spoiling anything, there are a lot of Iron Man suits in that movie! Like, so many!
So I thought it’d be fun to tell Jojo the names of the new armor, and what they’re designed for, and see what she comes up with. I’ll have her keep drawing armors until we run out or I get bored. LET’S GO!
The Mark 33 is a fun one because they’re calling it the Silver Centurion, and it’s based on ol’ Shell Head’s 80s armor from the comics. I told Jojo what it was called and that Tony wore it in the 80s. So how’d she do?
Well, she made it silver, that’s easy, and she gave it big 80s shoulder pads, which crazily enough is correct. She told me she was going to give the armor a mullet but when she showed it to me, it had crazy long hair instead.
Her explanation was that when she drew the mullet it wasn’t very noticeable so she kept making the hair longer so people could see it.
That’s the kind of bold choice I’ve come to expect from Jojo, who is, as I constantly feel the need to remind people, a successful professional artist.

Today Jojo draws a special St. Patrick’s Day comic starring Green Lantern!
Hey everyone, it’s me, Marly the writer! I’ve wanted to see Jojo draw this comic for a long time, but had to wait till St. Patrick’s Day… then we couldn’t wait and posted it early! Enjoy!
Jojo knows John Stewart better than Hal Jordan, but Hal seems like the heavier drinker, right? Well, I guess in Jojo’s mind Booster Gold is the heaviest drinker, becuase she drew him as a can of beer.
We’re hoping to post more comics in the future and we really are working on a book which will collect Jojo’s badly remembered heroes as well as have new comics like this one (but you know, new-er).

Today Jojo draws The Lizard.
I wanted to see Jojo’s take on Spidey’s latest movie antagonist. I didn’t like how he looked in the movie and I was hoping Jojo could improve him.
SHE TOTALLY DID!
I told her he was a scientist who became a lizard-man, and even though there’s few ways to get that wrong, she’s surprised us before. This one is great though. I love how thoughtful he looks, and that he’s little fat. Perfect.
He should team up with Jojo’s (much less accurate) Doctor Octopus.

Today Jojo draws Bane!
She’d already drawn Catwoman (and done her own take on DC’s New 52 Catwoman) plus she redesigned Batman. So all that’s left is Bane and we’ve got the main characters of the latest Batman flick.
I asked her to draw Bane and she had no idea who I meant. I told her he’s from Dark Knight Rises and she said, “Is he the bad guy?” I knew she hadn’t seen the movie, but surely she saw some trailers, right?
I’m going to say that she only saw the billboards, because she seemed to only know what his head looked like. She said he’s supposed to be really scary, but she didn’t know how he dresses so she put him in a suit.
By dressing a super villain as a business man, It’s possible that Jojo is making a subtle connection between Bane and Bain, Mitt Romney’s former company. Either that or she put Bane’s head on the body of the Spider-Man/Daredevil villain, Kingpin.
Or the real answer: she just drew it for no reason.

Today Jojo draws Damian Wayne!
I’ve wanted Jojo to draw Damian, the most blood thirsty of all the Robins, for a long time. Well, now we finally get to see her take on the fifth Robin (fourth Robin if you’re Dan DiDio - SNAP)! This Robin also has the distinction of actually being Batman’s son, so that’s fun.
Anyway I told Jojo that he was younger than most Robins, and kind of a little dick. I think she tried to best to capture that. The color scheme is just about right, actually, and she gave him a scowl. She still gave him the haircut and mask of the animated Teen Titans Robin, but that’s the only one she knows.
All in all, Damian would approve of this. Well, no he wouldn’t. Damian approves of nothing.

Today Jojo draws The Guardians of the Galaxy!
This concludes our one-year anniversary request week. The number one request we got was for The Guardians of the Galaxy, probably because Marvel just announced they’d be getting a movie in 2014.
I asked Jojo if she had any idea who they were (she didn’t) and told her “They live in space, their leader’s name is Star Lord… you already drew Rocket Raccoon.”
She stopped listening somewhere around “they live in space-” and went off to draw this. She clearly heard the word “guardians,” remembered the movie Legend of the Guardians:The Owls of Ga’Hoole and just went to town.
So here it is: giant owls with planets in their talons, as they shoot stars and vomit moons.
I don’t know about you, but I feel like the galaxy is now thoroughly guarded.

Today Jojo draws Rescue (Pepper Potts).
Tumblr user sweetalissum said, “ I’d love to see Rescue! It feels fool-proof because it’s just Pepper Potts in her own Iron Man style suit but who know how Jojo will do it!”
Well now we know how: by drawing her version of Iron Man, and sticking big square boobs on it.
Boy are those square.
