I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

Today Jojo draws Daken. We’ve gotten a lot of requests for Daken over the last few months (Tumblr users suspu and redconfession get the credit for requesting him last week) but I’ve never asked Jojo to draw him because she has no idea who he is. But this is Remembered Heroes One Year Anniversary Request Week! So here we go! I told her, “He’s like Wolverine but he’s got bone claws and one comes out of his wrist and he has kinda a mohawk.” I’ll admit, I know very little about Daken (I’m not a fan of Marvel doing “son of” legacy characters, that feels like DC’s thing). Jojo did the best she could… well that’s not true, she COULD have remembered to give him kind of a mohawk. She also, never having seen bone-claw-Wolverine, interpreted bone claws to mean literal bones sticking out of his hands. In place of claws. Fair enough. Oh also, those smudges are my fault, I thought it would be a swell idea to put the drawing in my pocket as I walked to the scanner. Let’s say they’re motion lines…
