I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

hi internet! here’s a hawkeye thing! marly told me to base it off this horrible thing. that was fun! the version i did before this one was based on my previous incarnation of hawkeye, when i showed it to marly he didn’t speak to me for the rest of the day. ENJOY!
also, i get asked a lot if i have my own blog, so here’s a gift for those who’ve asked!

Today Jojo draws… I’m going to call him Hawk Widow!
This week, Jojo’s been drawing children of famous super heroes. So far, she’s done characters that “actually” exist, but I also wanted to do at least one “what if so and so had a kid” drawings. We got more than one request for the offspring of Hawkeye and Black Widow, so here we go!
We already know Jojo thinks Hawkeye should have a hawk sticking out of his eye and that Black Widow would be more effective if she hurled buckets of spiders at people.
That could not have prepared me for what she drew today. It’s a man with a hawk head, crying spiders from his “hawk eye” and filling up buckets. Which he shoots from a bow. I’ve used the phrases “fever dreams” and “kill it with fire” many times in the past, but I don’t think I ever meant them as hard as I do right now.
Good work Jojo.
Although that looks like an eagle head. Not a hawk. Points off for that one.

Today Jojo draws… um… I don’t even know anymore.
I had asked her to draw Kate Bishop, the teen girl who goes by the name Hawkeye on the Young Avengers, since Clint Barton was dead at the time.
What she drew is, well, unsettling. Back when she drew Hawkeye, she depicted him as pulling hawks from his eyes and using them as arrows. When I asked her to draw “teen girl Hawkeye” she said, “Alright but I don’t want to just draw a hawk in her face again.” Fair enough, it’s good not to repeat yourself.
Near as I can tell, she drew a hawk wearing a wig, standing on a mannequin that is holding a bow and arrow. Also the mannequin is naked and it’s the kind with the creepy nipples. This is weirder than when she drew Booster Gold as a can of beer, Doctor Strange as a bone-saw pajama wizard and even her recent horse-Thor monstrosity.
Ladies and gentlemen, I think that super heroes have finally broken Jojo’s brain.

Disclaimer: Jojo did not make this. I made it, using her drawings and a (rudimentary) knowledge of Photoshop. This is essentially fan art, made by me.
When I was reading Mockingjay, I remarked to myself that Katniss pretty much becomes a super hero. She’s got a code name, a costume and trick arrows, she’s basically Hawkeye. So naturally my brain went to: WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT!!!!
Let’s do this!
Mockingjay: Katniss is a skilled archer with perfect aim and the grim determination to survive. Really, Hawkeye’s best shot is to convince Katniss that letting him win will somehow save her sister, or Peeta (depending on which book we’re in).
Hawkeye: He’s a super hero. I think he fought Galactus once (hasn’t everyone?) He’d probably feel bad shooting a teenage girl, but he could always shoot her with some kind of glue-net arrow.
Of course, Jojo’s Hawkeye actually fires hawks for arrows, which he pulls out of his face. Her Katniss has a camouflaged Peeta, instead of an arrow.
So really this is fight is Peeta vs Hawk. WHO WILL WIN!!!!???? DISCUSS!

So a while back I asked Remembered Heros if they would allow me to make an animated version of the Hawk-eyed Hawkeye. They said yes. And so I did.
This makes me super happy, y’all.

Hey look everyone! This nice person made an animated gif of Jojo’s Hawkeye. It is appropriately wonky, and I love it.

Today Jojo draws Hawkeye!
Thus, we conclude our week of Jojo drawing The Avengers from memory. I think we saved the best for last.
I don’t even know what to say here. I’m at a loss for words. I’ll give Jojo points for knowing that Hawkeye fights with a bow and arrow, and I suppose that haircut looks like movieverse Hawkeye.
Apparently Jojo felt Hawkeye should have a super power. She also decided that super power was to pull living hawks out of his eye, and use them as arrows. That’s literally insane.
The only thing I’ll say is that there is a tragedy here today. You see, Jojo loves coloring characters purple. Drawing purple characters is her favorite thing. She gets sad when she finds out someone is supposed to be purple, but she didn’t know that and missed her chance. And so it is with a heavy heart that I reveal to Jojo what Hawkeye is supposed to look like:

I’m sorry.
