I'm a writer. I read a lot of comics. My friend Jojo is an artist. She doesn't read any comics.

At lunch, she draws super heroes from memory. Her memory is not always very good.

As you look at these drawings, I can not stress enough that Jojo is a professional artist, and a full grown woman. It's important to remember that.

Today Jojo draws Tony Stark’s Mark 17 Armor!
Jojo got unexpectedly busy but I’m still going to make her draw all the armors I can think of from Iron Man 3! There’s like, forty of them in the movie. How many will Jojo draw? Probably less than forty! LET’S GO!
The Mark 17 is called Heartbreaker. I couldn’t really tell what it’s specific deal was supposed to be so I told Jojo the name and told her to go nuts. And nuts she did go. She hit the general heart break theme pretty hard, and she made him pink and red, because hearts.
I just want to note that after she drew the Silver Centurion armor, I showed her a picture of what it’s supposed to look like. In fact, every time she’s drawn Iron Man, I have shown her what he’s supposed to look like.
And yet, there’s all these great mistakes she keeps making. She always gives him eyebrows and a nose. She also likes to give him what I can only assume are metal nipples.
As she was drawing this, she tried to remember what Iron Man’s helmet was supposed to look like, knowing she’d just seen it the day before. When she couldn’t, she actually turned to me and said, “I just saw it yesterday. Why can’t I remember it? What’s wrong with me?”
I don’t know Jojo, but I hope it never gets fixed.

Today Jojo draws Tony Stark’s Mark 33 Armor.
Hey everyone, we’re back! So I saw Iron Man 3 (Jojo did not) and without spoiling anything, there are a lot of Iron Man suits in that movie! Like, so many!
So I thought it’d be fun to tell Jojo the names of the new armor, and what they’re designed for, and see what she comes up with. I’ll have her keep drawing armors until we run out or I get bored. LET’S GO!
The Mark 33 is a fun one because they’re calling it the Silver Centurion, and it’s based on ol’ Shell Head’s 80s armor from the comics. I told Jojo what it was called and that Tony wore it in the 80s. So how’d she do?
Well, she made it silver, that’s easy, and she gave it big 80s shoulder pads, which crazily enough is correct. She told me she was going to give the armor a mullet but when she showed it to me, it had crazy long hair instead.
Her explanation was that when she drew the mullet it wasn’t very noticeable so she kept making the hair longer so people could see it.
That’s the kind of bold choice I’ve come to expect from Jojo, who is, as I constantly feel the need to remind people, a successful professional artist.

Today Jojo draws Rescue (Pepper Potts).
Tumblr user sweetalissum said, “ I’d love to see Rescue! It feels fool-proof because it’s just Pepper Potts in her own Iron Man style suit but who know how Jojo will do it!”
Well now we know how: by drawing her version of Iron Man, and sticking big square boobs on it.
Boy are those square.

Today Jojo draws Iron Patriot.
So this week accidentally turned into Red, White and Blue Week. I say accidentally because Super Girl isn’t supposed to have white gloves, and if she’d drawn Spider-Woman right, it would have been red and yellow.
So let’s run with it. Here’s how today went.
Me: “Hey Jojo, why not draw Iron Patriot? He’s when Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin, took over SHEILD and renamed it HAMMER and then started his own Avengers made up of villains. This was all during Dark Reign, which led into Siege when Osborn attacks Asgard, which was floating above the midwest and-“
Jojo: “I don’t know any of those words.”
Me: “Just smoosh Iron Man and Captain America together.”
AND SHE DID! AND IT WAS WONDERFUL! My only critique is that she gave him a cape. I asked her why he has a cape and she said, “Why wouldn’t he?” The answer of course is that neither Cap nor Iron Man have capes.
To which she said, “Well, they both should.”

Today Jojo draws Iron Lad.
Jojo always draws great Avengers and great Teen Heroes so I’m having her draw the Young Avengers!
Iron Lad is the leader of the Young Avengers, then he’s revealed to be not teen Iron Man but actaully teen Kang The Conqueror, a time traveling super villain. Then he dies and his suit keeps walking around as its own guy. I’d say spoilers but honestly, the way I described that, you probably don’t believe that it’s real.
Jojo drew him very much like she draws Iron Man, but with jeans and sneakers, and his face showing so we can see how angsty he is. She replaced his foot blasters with a jet pack and gave him a weird belt that I don’t think any version of Iron Man has ever had.
I asked her why, unlike her other teens, he’s not smoking a cigarette and she said, “Iron Lad is straight edge. He’s mad because he wants to talk to girls but doesn’t know how.”

Today Jojo draws more comics based on the Avengers trailer.

We had some extra drawings that we didn’t use last week. Also, I like the idea that Hulk wants a costume too, why should he have to wear only ripped shorts? Seems unfair.

Today Jojo draws comics based on the Avengers trailer.

I don’t have much to add to this, except to say that we thought of it after watching the first trailer for The Avengers, and then looking at Jojo’s old drawing of the Hulk. He looked so proud of his kitten, that I figured he’d want Loki to know about it. Then it kinda snowballed from there.

Enjoy!

Today Jojo draws Iron Man.
This week, Jojo will be drawing members of The Avengers. She drew a lumpy, six-nippled Thor yesterday. She also drew Captain America and Hulk, a few months ago.
I thought this Iron Man drawing would be more accurate, Jojo has seen the first movie, but I shouldn’t have been so surprised. A while back, Jojo tried to draw Daredevil, saying he was “if Iron Man and Rocketeer had a baby”. What she drew looked nothing like Daredevil, but what I didn’t notice is it also didn’t look much like Iron Man.
This Iron Man, looks an awfully lot like her Daredevil. That is to say, wrong. It’s more mechanical, so that’s right. But that’s it.
I’ll give her some points, she got the colors right. The chest and hands would be right if they were the right color, and she did capture the very awkward way the movie Iron Man flies. If she’d gotten the helmet right, this would probably look fine.
I also like to think that Iron Man is not using his feet to fly, not because Jojo forgot he can do that, but because he’s drunk.
